The MSB Project coordinates work by more than 30 organizations in 20 countries worldwide. With a project budget of about $120 million, it is one of the most ambitious plant conservation initiatives ever, aiming to conserve seeds from about 10 percent of the world's plant species by the year 2010.

Monofilament Recovery & Recycling Program

Keep discarded fishing line out of the Texas water ways. It is a danger to boaters and wildlife.

Volunteer to install and mantain a fishing line recycling bin at road side fishing spots, boat ramps, marinas, or retail sporting goods stores where reels are respooled.

The monofilament is collected from the recycling bins and cleaned of hooks, leaders, weights, and trash. It is then shipped in postage paid boxes to the Berkley Pure Fishing Company in Iowa. Berkley melts the line down into raw plastic pellets that can be made into other plastic products including tackle boxes, spools for line, fish habitats, and toys. It is not made into more monofilament line.

Texas Trails and Active Transportation Conference

2012 Texas Trails and Active Transportation Conference
Wednesday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Feb. 3, 2012

Active Transportation is actively growing and includes hiking trails, bike lanes, urban pedestrian corridors, paddling trails, government initiatives in rural, suburban and city areas. It encompasses recreational, work, school related and wellness focused activity for participants from all walks of life.

San Antonio is the perfect place in February to witness and experience this burgeoning interest in Trails and Active Transportation.

Building from the very successful 2010 TTAT Conference in Austin, in February 2012 we’ll have something for everyone involved in the planning, construction, funding, economics, operation, management, promotion and use of active transportation.

Partnerships are important so once again Texas Trails Network and BikeTexas are bringing together municipal/state government, non-profit transportation advocacy groups, trail users, transportation engineers and planners and private businesses to share current information and examples.

Bring your hiking boots, bicycles, walking shoes, kayaks or canoes and water bottles to get a comprehensive look and see how you can impact Trails and Active Transportation in your area and across the state.

Register now for 3 days of hands on and in-classroom information targeted to anyone interested in Trails and Active Transportation! Perfect for anyone who plans, funds, builds, advocates for, designs, programs, oversees, promotes, influences or uses trails!
