Diana Foss is a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Urban Biologist and serves as our Texas Parks and Wildlife Deprtment Chapter Advisor. Beyond the role of Advisor, she has participated in our Chapter as a speaker; mentor; and as a hands on, get dirty volunteer -not as part of her job, but volunteering her time, like the rest of us. Recently I was reflecting on her role as a creator of chain reactions.
Monarch Watch program
Diana sent me a reminder of the Monarch Watch Program and when to start watching in our area.
I posted it for her as an Announcement on our web site.
Linda Curtis reported she signed up and just received her tags.
Linda likes to photograph and write about her experiences.
How many people will read Linda's article on our web site's Field Notes and get motivated to do it the next season?
Backyard Habitat program
Diana was a guest speaker at one of my Naturalist Training sessions.
Along with kathleen Klingshirn, I started planning a Backyard Habitat at the Jones State Forest. As I am not a gardener, I learned by doing.
The Backyard Habitat has become an educational garden about pollinators and native plants.
Another volunteer expanded the space to add a Pollinator Garden.
How many people will read our signs and attend our community lectures?
These are only 2 examples. I can think of even more. Log In to Add a Comment below and share how Diana's actions have spawned a chain reaction in your naturalist experience.
