ATTENTION Heartwood Chapter Members and Interns:

William Goodrich Jones State Forest since 1926 has been enriching lives through demonstration and education.  Texas has experienced one of the worst droughts in recorded time and the forest is not immune to the implications of only 20 inches of rainfall.

Hundreds if not thousands of trees have dies on the forest in 2010-2011, these unprecedented times will take unparalleled actions to bring the once forested areas for habitat, watershed and human enjoyment back to their former wonder.

If you are interested in serving on a team to review and evaluate the current condition, future plans and goals and objectives on how to implement an ecological restoration, please email John Warner at jwarner@tfs.tamu.edu or call 936/273-2261.  Annually over 80,000 people visit the forest along with some 8,000 students.  The opportunities are endless on ways messages are interpreted, learned and acted upon.
