Add a Web Page

How to add and edit a page on the web site.

Add a Web Page

Only Texas Master Naturalist Heartwood Chapter members can add pages to the web site.

The steps are long because I added all the details; but once you do it a few times it's easy.

Prepare your photo

Photos that you download straight from your camera are very large sized files. You can reduce the file size by reducing the dimensions. We recommend your longest edge, either the width or height be 500px. Most cameras come with a software program designed to do this for you. If not, you can use http://www.resizr.com for free.

Add the image to your text

TinyMCE is the name of the Text Editor we use to format the main text description.

While you are writing the main text for your page, you will see the small icons for the Text Editor at the top. To add an image, ...

  1. Click the cursor in your text where you want to place the image.
  2. Click the icon that looks like a small tree, A small window will open up.
  3. Look at the line labeled . Click the small folder beside it and another small window opens.
  4. On the left is a list of folders that hold our images. Click a folder to see a list of the image files that are in that folder.
  5. Select an image and click the link at the top to Send to TinyMCE.

  6. To upload an image from your computer...

Click the Upload link at the top of the Files list box.
    A text box drops down.
    Click the Browse button.
A window opens to show the files on your computer.
Select the image file you want and click the Open button.

Your file is now in the text box.
    Click the Upload button.
Now the file is in your images folder and ready for you to Send to TinyMCE.

  7. Once the image is made available, you will be asked to add the Image Description and Title.

  8. Click the Appearance tab. Use the Alignment option to move the image to the right, or left of your text. Click the Insert button when you are done.

To Edit the Image

  1. Delete it like regular text by using your Back Space key.
  2. To make changes, click on the image to select it and click the Text Editor's tree icon.
